Affordable and easy access to drinkable water is a basic human right. Only 2.8% of earth’s water is drinkable. Some parts of the world have drinkable water crisis. South Asian countries such as India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Indonesia and so on are facing severe crisis of drinkable water. Among them, Bangladesh is a poor country and some southern districts of this country like Satkhira, Barguna, Patuakhali, and Khulna are in crisis of drinkable water. The primary reasons include salinity and groundwater depletion. The ponds are primary source of water. The housewives travel a long distance several times a day to collect water from ponds. It would have been easy for them if there had been 2/3 deep tube-wells in every village. Considering the socio-economic condition of the people of these suffering areas, VHANI Foundation is going to take up a project in Jashore, Satkhira, and Khulna to help the people get easy access to drinkable water .
