Food, cloth, shelter, education, and medicine are the basic needs of humans and among them, humans cannot live without food; yet, many persons are devoid of these very basic necessities of life. The homeless persons do not have a permanent shelter to live in, they lack the financial capability to buy food, let alone avail themselves the other basic needs.
The rationality of the Project
One study shows the number of homeless persons in the UK has jumped from 219000 in 2019 to 274000 by the end of 2021, also cost of living crisis 2022 to still now reflecting the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis on job cuts and lower-income of people, not being able to afford food and accommodation. The children and elderly persons of the families of the low-income families are suffering more and hence, a project has been planned to distribute free food among the homeless persons. However, this requires the contribution of the people, who earn well so that they can help people in distress.
In Islam, food donation can be a way to practice Sadaqah or Zakat, which are forms of charity for those in need. Food banks can be a way to implement these charitable practices
